What is stored on your device
The app keeps a small amount of data in your browser's local storage so it works like an app:
- Your solve times, move counts and the scramble for each, used for the list and the averages.
- Preferences such as playback speed.
- A cached copy of the site's pages and files, so it opens offline.
This data never leaves your browser. Clearing site data for 6ecubes.com, or using the Clear button in the app, removes it. We cannot see it, restore it or move it to another device for you.
Player accounts (optional)
If you register a player name to use the leaderboard, the server stores: the name you chose, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), the dates you registered and logged in, and each solve you post: puzzle, time, move count, the scramble and your move list, which is used to verify the solve. Your name, best time and number of posted solves are shown publicly on the leaderboard. A session cookie keeps you logged in for ninety days. To delete the account and its solves, write to hello@6ecubes.com from the name in question.
What is not collected
- No email address, phone number or real name is asked for anywhere on the site, not even when registering.
- The colours you enter into the solver and the solutions it produces are processed on your device only.
- There are no advertising networks, social media buttons or third-party trackers on the site.
Server logs
Like every website, the hosting service that delivers 6ecubes.com records standard technical details of each request: IP address, time, page requested, browser type. These logs are used to keep the site running and to detect abuse, are retained for a short period by the host and are not combined with any other data about you.
Cookies
The only cookie the site sets is the login session for players who register; it holds a random token and nothing else. The hosting service may set a technical cookie for security purposes; it identifies no one and is not used for tracking.
Children
The site collects no personal information from anyone, children included, so there is nothing to consent to. Parents who prefer to clear the stored times can do so from the browser's site settings.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Questions go to hello@6ecubes.com; the terms and conditions cover the rest of how the site may be used.
